Set PDF Security Permissions when creating a new PDF document

Security Settings and permissions can be set when creating a new PDF document.

1. Open the file that you would like to save as a PDF document.
2. In the top drop-down menu bar, select File and then choose Print.
3. From the printing options, use the drop-down menu to choose PDF Complete as the printer and click Print or OK.
4. On the right-hand side of the PDF Complete Document Creation Options dialogue box, click the Permissions Tab.
5. Select the settings you want to enable using the check-boxes and drop-down menus.
   
   Note: You can set permissions to restrict others from printing the document, changing, editing or copying the document’s content. Also, limit extracting pages, filling in form fields, or signing the document.


6. Add a Manage Settings password to apply the security settings.
   
   Note: To require a password to view a document, insert a password in the View Document field.


7. Enter a name for the new PDF document.
8. Check the box to View PDF after creation to automatically open the PDF document after creation.
9. Click Save to create the new PDf file.

Add Security Permissions to existing PDF documents

Permissions allow the user to set compatible passwords and/or digital certificate permissions for a variety of document actions.

1. Open your PDF document.
2. From the menu bar select File and choose Document Properties.
   - OR -
   Use keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + D) to open Document Properties.
    
3. Within the 'Document Properties' dialog box, select the Security tab and choose the Add Security button.
4. Select the security options you want to enable using the check-boxes and drop-down menus.
   
   Note: You can set permissions to restrict others from printing the document, changing, editing, or copying the documents content. Also limit extracting pages, filling in form fields, or signing the document.
    
5. Click OK when you have finished making your selections, to apply the security changes.
